Filippo Cenacchi

Doctoral Researcher in Computer Science at Frontier AI Research Centre at Macquarie University.

My research is at the intersection of humanoid robots, multimodal AI, and mental-health diagnostics. I design simulation-first pipelines, trust-calibrated interaction policies, and privacy-preserving avatarization to make early assessment more reliable and equitable. I am supervised by Distinguished Chair Professor Longbing Cao and Professor Deborah Richards, collaborating across computing, psychology, and clinical partners.

Research Focus

Humanoid-AI Diagnostic Agents

Designing conversational humanoid agents (e.g., Ameca) that sense and fuse facial, vocal, and linguistic cues to support early detection of depression, PTSD, and cognitive decline. Emphasis on trust calibration, safety, and clinician-style pacing.

Simulation-First Training

SimClinician: a simulation testbed with MetaHuman patients, synchronized speech/face/gaze and PHQ-8 / PCL-C flows. Enables counterfactual replay, nonverbal perturbations, and uncertainty-aware turn management.

Privacy-Preserving Avatarization

Transforming raw sessions into re-playable 3D avatars that encode behavioral and affective signals while removing identifiers. Supports longitudinal tracking without storing voices or faces.

Decision Support & Triage

Interactive triage wizards and RL-inspired probing layered over E-DAIC and DAIC-WOZ to select targeted questions that maximize diagnostic clarity while exposing confidence and evidence.
